BHP. (Brake horsepower)

The brake horsepower is the amount of horsepower being consumed by the pump. It is not the horsepower of the driver.

The horsepower can be measured by:

  • A calibrated motor
  • A transmission dynamometer
  • A torsion dynamometer or "pony brake".

The Hydraulic Institute Standards are used as the basis for these measurements.
