Carbon Bushing

A machined cylinder used as:

  • A restrictive bushing in flushing applications
  • A thermal barrier in high temperature applications
  • A disaster bushing in an API (American Petroleum Institute) gland, and used to support a deflecting shaft in many mechanical seal applications.

A good grade of carbon- graphite is often used because of its chemical compatibility with most chemicals and its non-sparking characteristic. Teflon® is another widely used material.
