Finite Element Analysis

A computer generated method of predicting seal face distortion. Each element of the seal is analyzed finitely to see what happens when the part is subjected to various temperature and pressure transients.

The promise of finite element analysis is that we will be able to design small cross section seals that will work as well as the present heavy duty versions that take up too much stuffing box volume.

Unfortunately many finite analysis results are compromised because of the movement of the dynamic O-ring or elastomer in mechanical seal designs.
